Inspiring Guest 2019: Sammy Obeid – Injecting Humor into Pedagogy

Aunege-FNEGE Prize for the Best Educational Device in the Digital Age – Jury Prize

During the week of September 16-20, 2019, TBS Education launched the first edition of Inspiring Guest, an educational innovation project designed to inject creativity and positive emotions into teaching and learning. The concept: teachers invite inspiring personalities from outside the academic world to collaborate in the development of original educational resources aimed at stimulating both student motivation and the learning process.

The inaugural edition of this project focused on learner engagement. Indeed, in a world where every training organization must develop and / or select the best online and offline educational resources from an abundant supply, it is essential to rethink the way we attract and hold the attention of our listeners in order to that they learn as effectively as possible. Thus, for its launch, the Inspiring Guest project featured the American actor Sammy OBEID who, thanks to his atypical career, brought a unique point of view on these subjects. Sammy OBEID is a stand-up comedian who, in addition to graduating in business and applied mathematics from the University of California Berkeley, has a solid background in high school and college education. In addition, Sammy OBEID has a special interest in the role humor can play in teaching and pedagogy.
