The main aim of the ACSOBRIC project – ACceptabilité de la SOBRIété par les consommateurs face aux enjeux Climatiques – is to assist public policy decisions on the environment by :

  • identifying the consumer behaviours on which to prioritise normative sufficiency measures,
  • exploring public policy measures to minimise the risk of social protest.

The main lines of research in the ACSOBRIC project are to analyse attachment to and the levers for giving up consumption behaviour:

  • analysing attachment to consumer behaviour and the levers behind it ;
  • identify the sufficiency behaviours to be targeted as a priority by public policies (low attachment and high environmental impact) or to be considered (moderate to high attachment and high environmental impact), by highlighting the associated environmental impacts;
  • study the levers of acceptability of policies to encourage sufficiency in the targeted behaviours and how acceptability can be socially constructed.

This project is coordinated by LEGO – Université Bretagne Sud, in partnership with IRDL, CERAPS, CREGO and TBS Education.

The project is scheduled to run for 42 months, from 01/01/2025 to 30/06/2028.

It is led by Laurent BERTRANDIAS, lecturer and researcher in the Social & Innovation Marketing research laboratory at TBS Education, in collaboration with Mathieu ALEMANY-OLIVER from the same laboratory.

This project is funded by ANR.
