Welcome to Toulouse!

We are delighted to welcome you to the Experimental Finance Conference 2026, taking place in Toulouse, France. This year’s conference, organized by TBS Education and the Society for Experimental Finance, is the 16th Experimental Finance annual conference.

Toulouse is a hub of innovation and aerospace. It’s also the first student city in France. We encourage you to immerse yourself in this vibrant city, discover the pink buildings and immerse yourself in the culture of rugby and aerospace.

TBS Education, is a business school (a “Grande École”) founded in 1903 in Toulouse. Today, the school has campuses in Toulouse, Paris, Barcelona and Casablanca and the triple accreditation of business schools (EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA).

The school is part of the federal university of Toulouse and has strong connections to the social science and engineering schools of this very academic city.

Known as La Ville Rose (the Pink City), Toulouse is one of France’s most vibrant and welcoming cities. With its distinctive terracotta architecture, lively squares, and rich cultural heritage, it offers a unique blend of history and modernity.

Toulouse is also a major European center for aerospace, research, and innovation, and home to a dynamic academic community. The city combines a relaxed atmosphere with a strong intellectual and cultural life, making it an ideal setting for a conference.

It is ideally situated in the south-west of France, approximately two hours from the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Pyrenees mountains. European aerospace capital and home to more than 150 international companies.

Place Capitole

The Place du Capitole is the beating heart of Toulouse and a symbol of its rich history and vibrant culture.

This iconic square is home to the majestic Capitole building, which houses the city hall and the Théâtre du Capitole.

Surrounded by elegant arcades and lively cafés, it’s a perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere of the “Pink City.

The UNESCO-listed Basilica of Saint-Sernin is one of the most important and magnificent churches on the “Chemin Saint Jacques” medieval pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

Built in the 11th to 13th centuries, this impressive basilica ranks as the largest Romanesque church in Europe still in existence.

They are the scenic riverfront promenades along the Garonne River in Toulouse. They offer views of historic buildings and bridges, including the iconic Pont Neuf.

Lined with cafes and green spaces, the quais are a popular spot for locals and visitors to enjoy the city’s lively riverside atmosphere, and to watch the sunset.

Rent a bike and cycle along the Canal de Midi – an area declared as a World Heritage Site.

Victor Hugo’s Market is well-known for its fresh local products.

Toulouse has its own trademarked saucisse de Toulouse which has been made since the 18th century and is now protected by an AOC – appellation d’origine contrôlée (whose standards stipulate that products must come from designated geographical regions and adhere to traditional methods of production).

You’ll also see dishes featuring haricots blancs/ haricots Tarbais (white beans), another staple of the cuisine in South West France.

Getting to the venue

From Toulouse-Blagnac Airport

Take the airport shuttle bus toward the city center and get off at Compans-Caffarelli.

  • Service: 7 days a week, From Monday to Sunday
  • Timetable: 5.05 am to 12.05 am towards the Airport and 5.50 am to 12.35 am
  • Frequency: every 15 minutes during the day
  • Journey time: 27 minutes on average

The benefits of the Airport Shuttle:

  • The quickest way to travel from the airport to the city centre
  • Runs every day of the year, including public holidays
  • Connects to Matabiau railway station and metro lines A and B
  • The shuttle is accessible to people with reduced mobility, electric and air-conditioned

Take metro Line A (direction Basso Cambo), change to the B line at Jean Jaures, take it in direction Borderouge and get off at Compans-Caffarelli, then walk 5 minutes.

Note: Jean Jaures is one metro stop from the train station; Compans-Caffarelli is two metro stops from Jean Jaures. You can also walk from the train station directly to Jean Jaures (10 to 15 minutes) and take line B to Compans-Caffarelli.
